Finally, after some 20 years not even touching a guitar I broke down and re-stringed Erika’s old Martin acoustic. Erika bought me classical guitar strings for Christmas, I adjusted the bridge and voila! it plays!
Now if only I could play! Of course we old wheezers have to start somewhere, why not with some blues? I have an mp3 of “Since I’ve been Loving You” on an iPod, uploaded it to my laptop and imported it into Audacity.
From there I just wailed away with rest of the band. See?

Now that you’ve picked yourself up off the floor, here’s what really happens. I highlight a very small section of the song, slow it way, way down without changing the pitch, and struggle to follow Page’s playing. Believe it or not, I’ve made it through the first 10 bars of the song. It even sounds halfway decent played that slowly, especially when I’m wearing my headphones so all I hear is Led Zeppelin.
